ONE of the fastest-rising sports in the world E-sports looks to have finally set roots in Zimbabwe.

This follows news that the sport, which is a form of competition using video games, has finally been registered with the Sports and Recreation Commission of Zimbabwe (SRC).

Zimbabwe Electronic Games Association (ZEGA) president Sydney Savanhu said the association will be releasing its itinerary soon.

“E-sports is one of the fastest growing sports in the world right now, a multi-billion-dollar industry in fact, and ZEGA, along with its members, are very grateful to SRC for their guidance and support during the registration process,” he said.

“We are really excited and look forward to making the sport one of the biggest in the country.

“Plans are already afoot to host a tournament this coming April and we will be hosting the inaugural edition of the College Cup later this year.”
