AFTER nearly a year of inactivity, local match officials will be back in class when the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) hosts high-level FIFA referees’ instructor courses in Bulawayo later this month.

The Elite Referees and Technical Referees Instructors courses will take place in Bulawayo from November 19 to 23, and November 23 to 27, respectively.

Seasoned FIFA instructor for Eastern and Southern Africa, Felix Tangawarima, will conduct the courses.

Tangwarima is a seven-time Zimbabwe Referee of the Year winner.

“The Thirty Elite Referees and Thirty Referees Instructors drawn from all the country’s ten provinces will benefit us in the long run since it will be a five-day course to equip them with knowledge.

“Referees Instructors will be equipped with modern teaching skills, and the referees will undergo high-level theory lessons including integrated practical sessions, culminating with a physical fitness test,” ZIFA said in a statement on Wednesday.
