Harare City Council will start a water-rationing programme next month, which will see some suburbs getting water just once a week.

HCC’s corporate communications officer, Mr Innocent Ruwende, told The Sunday Mail that there will be changes in the distribution of water from next month.

“The idea of rationing of water is mostly because of population. The most affected places will be Chikurubi, Epworth and Mount Pleasant that will be receiving water only once a week.”

According to the city council’s schedule, the central business district and suburbs such as Queensdale and Highfield will not be affected by the rationing.

Alexander Park, Budiriro, Glenview, Kambuzuma, Kuwadzana, Mufakose will receive water for five days uninterrupted.

Warren Park is expected to receive water between Tuesday and Friday while Borrowdale will get their allocation for three days a week.

Harare South constituency will get water on Wednesday and Thursday, while Hatcliffe will receive on Thursday and Friday.

Dzivarasekwa and Ashbrittle are expected to receive water between Friday and Tuesday.

Ashdown Park will receive water between Friday and Monday, while Logan Park will be receiving water between Saturday and Monday.

Hatfield and Waterfalls will be receiving water between Saturday and Tuesday.

Mabvuku, Msasa and Tafara will get the precious liquid on Sundays and Mondays.
