NEW: Eswatini’s King Mswati III arrives for SADC Summit

Eswatini’s King Mswati III has arrived at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport for the SADC Summit, which is scheduled for tomorrow.

King Mswati is accompanied by the queen.

He was welcomed by Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona.

The Kingdom of Eswatini is a founding member of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), having been part of the regional bloc’s formation as the Southern African Development Co-ordination Conference (SADCC) in Lusaka, Zambia, in April 1980.

Eswatini is the only absolute monarch in Southern Africa.

It is bordered by the Republic of Mozambique to the east and the rest by the Republic of South Africa.

Eswatini’s cultural heritage is deeply rooted, with traditions carefully protected and sustained. Colourful ceremonies regularly take place to mark special occasions.

The capital city of Eswatini is Mbabane, which serves as the executive capital.

Lobamba, serves as the legislative capital.

The country has a population of 1,2 million people and its gross domestic product is US$4,7 billion.
