NEW: False start for Gem Boys, Green Fuel

Sports Reporter

MANICALAND’S two representatives in the Castle Lager Premiership – Manica Diamonds and GreenFuel – had a nightmarish start to the 2023 season after suffering defeats.

Both teams were on the road, with the Gem Boys going down 2-0 to CAPS United yesterday while the Ethanol Boys succumbed to a 1-0 loss at the hands of Yadah Stars this afternoon.

The results leave the two teams in the bottom half of the table.

Football faithful in the province will, however, be hopeful that the diamond miners and ethanol producers find the winning formula in their next assignments.

Manica Diamonds host Triangle United while GreenFuel entertain Herentals in round two of the fixtures.

A lot is expected from the Mutare outfit after doing some tidy business on the market during the off-season transfer window, while eyes will also be on the Chisumbanje-based debutants to see if they will pull their weight in the top-flight league.
