NEW: Fatal end to boundary dispute

A simmering boundary dispute in Mhlawuli village, Nkayi district, recently left an 87-year-old man dead.

Willie Khumalo (87) died while admitted at Gwelutshena Clinic after being struck by an axe all over the body by Brilliant Ndlovu over a longstanding boundary dispute on Sunday.

Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.

“Police in Gwelutshena are investigating a case of murder in which the victim, Willie Khumalo (87), died whilst admitted at Gwelutshena Clinic on May 9, 2023 after allegedly being struck with an axe indiscriminately all over the body by the suspect, Brilliant Ndlovu, on May 7, 2023 at Mhlawuli village, Setshange,” he said.

“The suspect and the victim had a longstanding land boundary dispute.”
