NEW: Firm ventures into stockfeed production

Local veterinary wholesaler Continental Veterinary Distributors (Contivet) has diversified into stockfeed production, helping add capacity in a sector that last year realised a new national output record of 657 000 tonnes.

According to the Stockfeed Manufacturers Association (SMA), stock feed output in 2021 was valued at $43,5 billion.

Contivet managing director Mr Ronald Murowe said there was need for the livestock sector to support locally produced products.

“As importers and distributors of veterinary products, we were already major players in the livestock production sector,” he said.

“We then decided to take an active role in value addition by manufacturing our own products.”

Contivet has a footprint in Zambia, Malawi and South Africa.
