At least four deaths and 1 650 malaria cases were recorded in a single week last month, a Weekly Diseases Surveillance report shows.
In a statement, the Ministry of Health and Child Care said the cases were reported for the period October 17 to 23.
“According to a Weekly Diseases Surveillance report for the period 17 to 23 October, Zimbabwe recorded 1 650 malaria cases and four malaria deaths during the same week.
“Mashonaland East and Mashonaland Central Provinces recorded the highest number of cases of 658 and 457, respectively while deaths were from Murewa District, Guruve District and Harare which recorded two, one and one death, respectively” reads part of the statement.
Of the reported cases, 210 (12,7 percent) were from the under five-year-old category.
Meanwhile, the 2022 cumulative cases of malaria to date stand at 92 310 and 151 deaths.
