AN apostolic sect church – Johane Masowe eChishanu (Mubvumira) – has encouraged its members to acquire national identity cards required for the ongoing voter registration exercise, which will also enable them to participate in the harmonised elections set for later this year.
The church’s leader, Madzibaba Bernard, called on parents in the church to also get birth certificates for their children.
He said church members must take advantage of the ongoing countrywide exercise facilitating the issuance of civil registration documents such as national identity cards and birth certificates.
The Civil Registry Department has since increased the working time to 12 hours during weekdays and 10 hours on weekends as it will be opening from 7am to 7pm and 7am to 5pm respectively.
“Our church has a huge following in Manicaland and we must ensure that everyone acquires birth certificates and national identity cards. These are important civil registration documents for every Zimbabwean as IDs will allow us to register as voters and also participate in the forthcoming harmonised elections,” he said.
Madzibaba Bernard said the church will continue praying for peaceful polls.
He said: “As a church, we are praying for peace to prevail in the country before, during and after the harmonised election. We call for unity in building our country.”
