In a strategic move to appease all parties involved, organisers of the Pacific Bulawayo Shutdown gig have shifted the highly anticipated event from the Queens Sports Club to the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Main Arena.

The relocation of the event scheduled for April 26 was motivated by a desire to avoid potential friction with the City of Bulawayo and Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC).

The original location at the Queens Sports Club sparked concerns over potential clashes with cricket

However, the venue choice faced strong opposition from Bulawayo Mayor, Councillor David Coltart, who argued that it would jeopardise preparations for Zimbabwe’s upcoming international test cricket fixtures against New Zealand and South Africa.

In a Press statement released on April 5, the Queens Sports Club board of management said that under the current lease agreement with ZC, the club retains the right to host social events and activities at the venue, in addition to accommodating cricket matches, potentially setting the stage for a conflict with city officials.

Harris Entertainment, the organisers of the event, have announced a venue change, effectively ending any potential further disputes.

“ZITF, in partnership with Harris Entertainment, would like to inform the public of the change of venue for the Pacific Bulawayo Shutdown from Queens Sports Ground to the ZITF Main Arena,” the statement read.
