Glen View South residents have commended the Zanu PF-led Government for spearheading various development projects within the constituency, ahead of the Parliamentary by-election slated for Saturday.
Notable initiatives include the drilling of several solar-powered boreholes, the establishment of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centres, and the rehabilitation of local roads.
Five candidates will contest for the Glenview South National Assembly seat, including ZANU PF candidate, Cde Tsitsi Tawomhera.
In separate interviews, locals expressed satisfaction with the ongoing work being done by the ruling party in the constituency.
“We are excited about the positive changes taking shape in our area,” said Mrs Mary Taruvinga. “Glenview South used to be in a deplorable state, with sewage gushing from all corners under the opposition’s leadership, but now things have improved.”
Mr Amos Mabachi, another resident, agreed, stating, “It is quite pleasing to note the great improvement in terms of service delivery. We are going to vote for Cde Tawomhera to realise the benefits of good governance.
“We felt ill-treated by the MDC-CCC party leadership over the past years. We intend to correct our previous mistakes by voting for a tried and tested party, ZANU PF. We want Cde Tawomhera to represent us in Parliament.”
Confidence within the ruling party is high. ZANU PF Harare Provincial Political Commissar, Cde Voyage Dambuza, predicted a resounding victory.
“With the developments taking place in the constituency, we will definitely win the by-election,” Cde Dambuza said.
“We know the area used to be an opposition stronghold, but we have done our homework well. We have a youthful candidate who appeals to the youth, and we are hopeful she will succeed this time.”
