New gospel group on the block

Braeside, also features Primrose’s young sister, Privilege, apart from the other talented vocalists who make up the group.
Formed last year, one can be forgiven for mistaking the Peace Gospel Singers for a seasoned outfit because of their exceptional talents on the vocals, instrument arrangement as well as depth of messages.
Some of the members — Itai Sandras, Patience Segula, Nyasha Macheza and Lorraine Mambiya, — alternate on a number of songs on the album to give a different feel.
The album opens with the song “Korona” which reminds people they will rewarded in heaven if they follow God. “Mwari Pindirai” is a plea to God for divine intervention in a world afflicted by all kinds of disasters, diseases, war and hunger.
“Pakutanga” reminds people of how God is the Alpha and Omega, while “Mwari Wangu” is a praise song extolling God.
It is closer in meaning to the track “Amazing” in which God’s grace is described as amazing.
“Famba”, “Mweya” and “Jesu Anokudana” make up the rest of the playlist on the album being marketed at Corner Studios.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Itai said they decided to form the group to spread the word of God through music.
“Our aim is to advocate for peace and harmony through our music and also remind people that with God everything is possible,” he said.
Born on March 24, 1984 in Mt Darwin, Itai first developed a passion for music when he was still in primary school at Watershed Primary School in Marondera and right through to high school. It was only until 2010 that he decided to venture into music on a professional level.
“Although I trained as a confectioner, working as a bakery manager, up to now, I however find music irresistible and this led to the formation of the Peace Gospel Singers,” he said.
Itai paid tribute to Primrose Cement for her support.
“Cement has inspired me to soldier on because it is not easy to make it in  music. I also derive a lot of inspiration from people like Blessing Shumba, Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave and Ngoni Gwasira,” he said.
Their music is currently being played on Radio Zimbabwe, Star FM and National FM.  “Plans are underway for us to start holding shows,” Itai said.
