NEW: Government imposes moratorium on urban State land allocation

Online Reporter

GOVERNMENT, through the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works, has announced a moratorium on the allocation of urban State land with immediate effect.

The move is expected to enhance the administration and management of land for national development.

“The ministry is responsible for administering urban State land on behalf of President Mnangagwa.

“To ensure sustainable development, a transparent system is being put in place. The moratorium will allow the ministry to finalise its review and strengthen existing policies and guidelines,” said the ministry in a statement.

It is believed that the moratorium will pave the way for an efficient and transparent system to ensure that urban State land plays a role in facilitating sustainable and functional development.

Government urged stakeholders and the public to be patient as it concludes the process.
