THE Government is working on modalities to establish a security centre to monitor and regulate Artificial Intelligence (AI) activities, amid concerns over national security.

Responding to questions in Parliament yesterday, Information Communication Technology and Courier Services Minister Tatenda Mavetera said the centre will detect and prevent cyber-attacks leveraging AI.

“In that way, we are coming up with a security operations centre which we have put in place to make sure that we can be able to detect any other cyber security attacks that can come through,” she said.

“What we are hoping to do is to conclude on our security operations centre which is going to enable us to track and see what will be happening in the Artificial Intelligence space.”

Minister Mavetera said an AI policy was being developed to create a safe operating environment.

“As a country, we have also realised that in terms of training, we definitely need to make sure that we upskill and reskill,” she said.
