ZIMBABWE will on Tuesday host a two-day SADC region conference on agro-ecology policy framework, which is meant to improve sustainable agriculture and disaster mitigation at policy level.
It will run under the theme “Recovering from El Niño-induced drought through agro-ecological tailoring and resilience building”.
Agro-ecology involves the adoption of sustainable farming methods that increase yields while reducing environmental damage.
In a joint press statement with its partners, the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development said: “The conference represents a significant collaborative effort to push for agro-ecology policies and strategies in Southern Africa.
“We aim to create a regional framework that promotes sustainable agriculture, supports smallholder farmers and ensures food security.”
