GOVERNMENT has come up with a raft of measures, which include enhancing water and sanitation infrastructure in urban and rural areas, to curb diarrheal diseases such as cholera and typhoid.

Addressing Tuesday’s post-Cabinet briefing, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr Jenfan Muswere said: “Cabinet wishes to restate that where the local authorities are failing to provide infrastructure, Government will continue to strengthen interventions.

“In the meantime, specific interventions are being put in place to augment the following services: immediate safe water trucking in affected urban areas; continuation of drilling and rehabilitation of boreholes; monitoring water quality in all areas and provision of household water treatment technologies.”
