CABINET has directed all Ministers of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution to overhaul their Covid-19 vaccination strategies in order to inject renewed impetus into the national vaccination programme.

Addressing Tuesday’s post-Cabinet briefing, Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Monica Mutsvangwa said: “Ministers of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution and their teams submit updated vaccination campaign strategies and micro-plans that support implementation of more innovative ways of strengthening vaccination services in their provinces.

“Provinces should take advantage of the re-opening of schools to ramp up vaccinations for those who are 16 years and above.”

Under the new plan, the Ministry of Health and Child Care will come up with vaccination targets per month for each province.

Treasury is expected to provide adequate funding to drive the Covid-19 vaccination programme.
