Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, will assist students who cut short their studies at Chinese universities due to Covid-19 to continue with their education.

In a statement on Thursday, the ministry said authorities are in the process of compiling a list of students that are enrolled at Chinese universities.

“We are compiling a list of students who are enrolled in Chinese universities but are currently out of the People’s Republic of China and would like to return to complete their studies.

“This list has been requested by the Chinese authorities in order to assist an orderly return of the students who could not continue with their studies in China because of the Covid-19 pandemic,” reads part of the statement.

Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ministry spokesperson Mr Livit Mugejo said students are encouraged to provide their full names.

“Students are encouraged to provide their full name, passport number, name of university, study programme, course in full, level of study and year of study,” he said.
