GOVERNMENT will introduce an electronic register for monitoring Covid-19 vaccinations, a Cabinet Minister has said.

The electronic vaccination register concept will also be extended to other programmes, such as the Expanded Programme on Immunisation for children under the age of five years.

Addressing Tuesday’s post-Cabinet briefing, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said the electronic register will help strengthen vaccination and immunisation in Zimbabwe.

“A strengthened vaccination plan and electronic register that enables vaccination teams to easily identify and follow up those who have not yet received their second or third dose is due for introduction, and the Ministry of Health and Child Care will update the nation progress made,” said Minister Mutsvangwa.

“This approach will not only help to increase the Covid-19 vaccine uptake, but will also strengthen the under-five year old Expanded Programme on Immunisation.”
