NEW: Govt to purchase 3 000 buses

GOVERNMENT will acquire 3 000 more buses over the next year, as it continues to revamp the country’s urban transport system.  

Addressing thousands of Zanu PF supporters attending the Presidential Star Rally in Chitungwiza on Wednesday, President Mnangagwa said Government will purchase 1 500 buses in the first phase, and another 1 500 in the second phase.  

“Government has committed to revamp the mass transport system to ensure that transport is affordable, especially to urban commuters,” he said.  

“Under the first phase, Government will purchase 1 500 buses, with another 1 500 buses bought under the second phase. In total Government will purchase 3 000 buses.”
