AN elderly woman from Harare has turned to the courts for protection against her grandson, who is allegedly physically abusing her.

Anatoria Antony appeared before the Harare Civil Court on Tuesday seeking a peace order against her grandson, Kudakwashe Antony.

She claimed Kudakwashe’s actions have caused her emotional distress and anxiety.

“He insults me, saying the house does not belong to me. He uses vulgar language and damages the doors when I am away,” said Anatoria.

“He also takes drinks from my business without permission. At one time he shook me violently and my wig fell off.”

Kudakwashe did not deny the allegations.

Presiding magistrate Ms Meenal Narotam ordered Kudakwashe to refrain from insulting and physically abusing his grandmother.
