NEW: Harare street lighting pilot project completed

Harare City Council (HCC) says it has completed the street lighting pilot project, which has resulted in the installation of 1 202 street lights.

The project was a partnership between HCC, Rwanda Energy Group (REG) and the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA).

“The pilot project was completed and covered seven roads. We hope the project will continue if the financing model for the roll out is concluded,” said Harare Mayor Councillor Jacob Mafume.

The project also saw the installation of 10 new traffic signals at various intersections around the capital.
