A Harare woman has sought a protection order against her husband who beats her over her preferred haircut.

Nomsa Chidodo accused Edmore Mutsangwe of being violent.

“I am applying for a protection order against my husband who is in the habit of beating me every time he gets a chance. He beats me every time I get a new haircut.

“I did not want to report the case for the sake of our marriage, but it is getting worse,” said Chidodo.

In his response, Chitsangwe did not deny the allegations.

“I have a problem with my wife. Whenever we have minor issues, she goes and reports to her relatives. She says her relatives are the better advisors and does not allow us as a family to fix our own problems.

“The first time I beat her, she went to the barber and got a haircut. I did not want her to do that.

“The second time she did the same. The haircuts she gets are not proper. I want her to get the haircuts l prefer, not the other way round but she does not listen,” he said.

Ms Meenal Naratom granted the protection order barring Chitsangwe from beating up his wife.

He encouraged the couple to solve their issues amicably.
