A 27-YEAR-OLD Mutare man recently lost nearly US$1 000 and other valuables when knife-wielding robbers pounced on him near Rusape along the Mutare-Harare Highway.

Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Nobert Muzondo confirmed the incident, saying Joseph Shamba was attacked by three unknown assailants at the 156km peg.

The robbers, who are still at large, immediately vanished from the scene after committing the crime.

“While driving along the Mutare-Harare Highway, the driver disembarked from his vehicle to check a tyre puncture. Three men suddenly appeared and attacked him with a knife. They robbed him of US$986 and a smart phone before vanishing from the scene. The complainant reported the matter at Rusape Police Station,” said Inspector Muzondo.

He said police have launched a manhunt for the robbers and appealed to anyone with information leading to the suspects’ arrest to contact their nearest police station.
