SOCCER Star of the Year finalist Eli Ilunga is tipped to land another award at the Black Rhinos end-of-season awards ceremony set for Harare on Thursday.

The Democratic Republic of Congo striker netted 11 goals for Black Rhinos, who finished ninth on the 2021/2022 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League standings.

Ilunga, a former FC Platinum striker, was also instrumental in Chauya Chipembere’s run in the Chibuku Super Cup.

Rhinos reached the semi-finals, where they were knocked out by eventual winners Bulawayo Chiefs.

Central defender Gareth Madhake and skipper Farai Banda are also tipped to bag awards.

Madhake played all 34 league games for Black Rhinos, while Banda was consistent on the left channel.

Banda also chipped in with some crucial goals.

The duo of Madhake and Ilunga are now linked with a move to Dynamos, who are expected to announce former Black Rhinos gaffer Herbert Maruwa as their next coach before year-end.

Maruwa was sacked at Rhinos in July and replaced by Stanford “Stix” Mutizwa.
