A bank official stationed at Hurudza House appeared before a Harare magistrate facing allegations of conniving with his brother-in-law to con a United Kingdom-based man of three rigid trucks.

Simba Zirumba and his brother-in-law Lavah Mundenda are alleged to have registered Anthony Kanyemba’s trucks in their names before selling them.

The duo was not asked to plead when they appeared before Mrs Marehwanazvo Gofa.

They were remanded in custody to May 22, 2024.

Appearing for the State, Mr Lancelot Mutsokoti said in July 2023, Kanyemba bought two trucks from the UK and engaged Mundenda to facilitate their importation into Zimbabwe.

On July 12, 2023, Kanyemba bought a DAF CF Curtain side truck and assigned Zirumba to do the paperwork.

According to the State, all three trucks were successfully imported into Zimbabwe.

However, Zirumba and Mundenda allegedly registered the trucks in their names and sold them.

The police managed to track the trucks, thereby leading to the duo’s arrest.
