A MUTOKO man was convicted last Friday, for failing to secure his gun in a cabinet.

Julius Danda (81) appeared before Mutoko magistrate, Mr Elijah Sibanda, charged with contravening the Firearms Act (Chapter 10:09).

Prosecutor, Mr Nathan Majuru, said on May 6, Julius left his gun in his bedroom under the bed and went for a church service.

Upon his return, he could not locate his gun and went to file a police report, where he was arrested.

Quizzed on why he did not secure gun in a gun cabinet, Julius said he did not know much about guns since he had inherited it from his father.

The magistrate slapped him with a US$150 fine, which could land him in jail for a month if he fails to pay.
