NEW: Inmate escapes from Chikurubi Maximum Prison

AN inmate, Danaishe Chinyama (24) who was serving 12-months imprisonment for malicious damage to property escaped from Chikurubi Maximum Prison on Wednesday. 

In a statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said they are hunting for the suspect, who had only served eight months of his prison term. 

“Police in Harare are appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of Danaishe Chinyama (24) for escaping from Chikurubi Maximum Prison on December 7, 2022.

 “The suspect was serving 12-months imprisonment for malicious damage to property and had served eight months,” said ZRP. 

Police are appealing to anyone with information that may lead to his arrest to contact the nearest police base.
