Upcoming gospel artiste Wilmore Chokoto has released a debut titled “NaMwari Zvinogoneka”.

The eight-track gospel album is a mixture of afro-jazz and reggae and comprises tracks such as “NaMwari”, “Tovimba”, “Zvandishungurudza” and “Kutenda Chete”.

The album was recorded and produced by EA Records and is already circulating in the streets and, according to Chikoto, it is being received well by the gospel audiences.

“NaMwari Zvinogeneka” is the first album that Chikoto has released since he started his music career as a gospel artiste seven years ago.

“It is my first gospel album and I thank God that it has finally hit the streets. This is my first album since I started doing music in 2008,” he said.

The soft-spoken artiste said he entered the music arena with his first single “Kuna Mwari Kudenga”, which made a name for him some years back.

“Kuna Mwari Kudenga was my first gospel single that brought me into the spotlight way back in 2008.

“It was played on all radio stations and my fans loved it. I never thought it could make it since I had just joined industry,” he said

He said his Christian background gave him the urge to preach the word of God through music as it can be easily understood and can go far, reaching a lot of people.

Since the release of the album, Chikoto has been performing in churches and hopes to go far with his musical career.

“I just pray that I go places with this music career because judging from the way the fans are accepting my album it gives me hope.

“It shows that they are loving my music,” he said

The upcoming artiste was born and bred in Murehwa, where he started singing at primary school.

“ I come from Murehwa and I was born and grew up there. I started singing in the school choir when I was at primary school and it continued to my secondary level and, as you can see, I’m still doing it.”

However, the musician complained of financial problems and lack of promoters as challenges that are becoming major obstacles among upcoming artistes.

He also urged other upcoming artistes to be strong and patient in their music careers.

“Music is a journey which needs people are strong and patient. You need to put God first in everything that you and all will be well,” he said.

The musician said he was in the process of producing videos to back his album and fans should brace for refined work that was in the pipeline.
