NEW: Local players impress Italian scouts

DYNAMOS scored four goals in a league match for the first time in six years during Match Day Two of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League at the weekend.

The Glamour Boys walloped Sheasham 4-0 at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday to register their biggest goal haul in the league since September 21, 2017, when they dismantled Chapungu at Ascot.

Sunday’s win was DeMbare’s second in as many league matches this season, and their fans believe the Mbare side will challenge for honours this term.

“It’s still early days yet, but our team is showing some signs that they might go on and do well this season,” said James Chiwaro, a staunch Dynamos supporter.

Dynamos are sitting on top of the log standings with six points after Match Day Two and are yet to concede.

Two Italian scouts – Veniero Semprini and Marco Cevoli – watched the match between Dynamos and Sheasham.

They were particularly impressed by DeMbare’s central midfielder Tanaka “Kante” Shandirwa.

“Dynamos were looking good,” Semprini said.

“It was really a nice game of football. Standard was good.”

The Italians were brought to Zimbabwe by former Dynamos striker Tonderai “Tkzee” Mutambikwa.

They also watched a friendly match between Allan Wilson High and Prince Edward High on Tuesday morning.

“We have seen some good youngsters here; good potential,” said Semprini.

“We were impressed with three boys here, but we will give you more details later.”

Mutambikwa, who played for Dynamos during their historic Champions League campaign in 1998, says the arrival of the Italian scouts presents opportunities for local players.

“Every talented footballer should have a chance; no one should be left behind,” added Mutambikwa.

“These Italian scouts are on a mission to scout junior soccer talent in Harare.”
