President Mnangagwa has relaxed Covid-19 containment measures from Level four lockdown to Level two.

Business hours have been extended, with companies now allowed to close at 7pm from 3:30pm previously.

Said President Mnangagwa on Tuesday afternoon:

“The marked decline in cases and deaths is a clear demonstration that Government’s careful implementation of Public Health and Social Measures including lockdowns, in collaboration with all sectors and stakeholders is paying off.

“I am therefore introducing a relaxation of the current Level four lockdown to Level two lockdown.”

In other measures that have been relaxed, the curfew time has been reviewed to between 10pm to 5:30am, while restaurants have also been allowed to open from 8am to 10pm.

President Mnangagwa also announced the lifting of the ban on intercity travelling.

According to the new regulations, public gatherings should not exceed 100.

Bottle stores can now sell take-away from 10am until 4pm, while beer outlets at nightclubs will remain closed during the level 2 lockdown.

Sporting activity has also been allowed to resume under the level 2 lockdown.

President Mnangagwa said low risk sporting activities will take place between 8am to 3pm, while medium-to-high risk sporting activities shall obtain approval beforehand.

The latest Level 2 lockdown regime will be reviewed in two weeks.
