LONG-DISTANCE RUNNER Moses Tarakinyu, who won his second race over the weekend, says he is on the right track since his return from an injury he picked late last year.

He first won the Old Mutual Half Marathon after coming home in 1 hour, 3 minutes and 55 seconds.

He carried the momentum to the FNB Kazungula Bridge Marathon, where he participated in the half marathon.

And he was the first to cross the finish line in 1 hour, 5 minutes and 36 seconds on Saturday.

“This shows that what we are doing is working and we are in the right direction; also our recovery pathway is the correct one,” he said.

“The results show that I have recovered well; I am looking forward to seeing how my body will respond to the next training block.

“The result will help my coach to evaluate and see areas that we need to work on as we continue the build-up to other races. The results will build confidence in me as I continue chasing my 2025 goals.

“I am focusing on improving my fitness and being healthy and making sure that I work on all fitness components in the training programme set by my coach.”

Tarakinyu is one of the distance runners who have shown interest in qualifying for the World Athletics Championships in marathon.
