NEW: Luck runs out for unregistered estate agency

Online Reporter

AN unregistered real estate agency has been fined US$200 or the equivalent in local currency after its director admitted to operating without the necessary registration.

Gravitas Realty Private (Ltd), which John Kondo was representing, was fined when it appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Court charged with practicing as an estate agent without registration under the Estate Agents Council of Zimbabwe.

The company was convicted on its plea.

The court heard that sometime in December 2023, the Estate Agents Council of Zimbabwe received a tip-off that Gravitas Realty was practicing without any registration.

Gravitas Realty was actually in the process of finalising a transaction for the purchase of Farm 128 Msengezi in Chegutu.

Officials from the Estate Agents Council of Zimbabwe then checked their records and confirmed that the company was not registered with them

A complaint was lodged with the police, leading to the arrest of the company’s director.
