THE Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has suspended a Mutoko-based magistrate and court interpreter for allegedly having an affair.

Mutoko magistrate Ms Rumbidzai Mhandu is accused of having an affair with court interpreter Simon Chuma, who is married.

The matter came to light when Ms Mhandu was confronted by Simon’s wife, Angeline Charisi, while solemnising a wedding recently.

Angeline accused the magistrate of snatching her husband, before going on to disrupt the wedding ceremony.

Another magistrate had to be called in to solemnise the wedding.

JSC spokesperson Mr Daniel Nemukuyu confirmed the suspension.

“We can confirm that the magistrate and the interpreter have been suspended pending investigations,” he said.

“We have since sent a team of investigators to Mutoko and the outcome of the investigation will determine the way forward.”
