NEW: Public relations institute re-elects president

THE Zimbabwe Institute of Public Relations (ZIPR) has announced the re-election of Ms Hazel Zisanhi as its president for another one-year term.

Ms Zisanhi, a corporate communications and stakeholder relations specialist, was given a fresh mandate to lead ZIPR at an annual general meeting (AGM) held in Harare recently.

Speaking after her re-election, Ms Zisanhi, said: “As the newly-elected council, we plan to successfully organise various training sessions, workshops and networking events, all aimed at enhancing the knowledge, skills and performance of our distinguished members while giving them value for their membership.”

The AGM also saw the election of Mr Thandolwenkosi Nkomo, a media mentor at Internews’ Rooted in Trust Project, as the professional body’s new vice president.

Media and communications expert and Chapungu FC public relations officer Mr Kennedy Khombo took over from Ms Paidamoyo Chipunza as the institute’s secretary.

Ms Prudence Mukandatsama was elected to take charge of the organisation’s public relations and publicity portfolio, while Dr Caven Masuku will be responsible for education and mentorship.

Ms Bongiwe Ngwenya and Mr Lloyd Gumbo complete the seven-member ZIPR council, and will both be responsible for the social media and events portfolio.
