NEW: Man (21) killed in beer binge

A 21-year-old man was fatally assaulted in Tsholotsho on Sunday following an argument after a beer-drinking spree.

The suspect, Mhlalisi Tshuma, ambushed the victim and fatally assaulted him with a switch.

In a statement on Tuesday, police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest.

“Police in Tsholotsho have arrested Mhlalisi Tshuma (27) in connection with a murder case which occurred at Dombo Business Centre, Tsholotsho,

on February 20, 2022 at around 12:30am,” he said.

“The suspect ambushed Melulekhi Ndlovu (21) and fatally assaulted him all over the body with a switch after a misunderstanding at a beer binge.

“The victim’s body was referred to United Bulawayo Hospitals for post-mortem.”
