NEW: Man jailed for biting off juvenile’s finger

A 30-year-old man from Kandege Farm, Benard Nguwo, has been sentenced to an effective five months in prison after he was found guilty of biting off a 13-year-old boy’s finger during a memorial service dispute.

The incident occurred on September 20, 2025 when Nguwo demanded to take over drumming duties from the juvenile.

When the boy refused, an argument broke out and in a fit of rage, Nguwo bit off the victim’s right middle finger, severing it in the process.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, Nguwo appeared before the Chegutu Magistrates’ Court, which sentenced him to eight months imprisonment, with three months suspended on condition of good behaviour.

He will serve an effective five months behind bars.
