NEW: Man killed for stealing donkeys

A 38-year-old Gwanda man died after he was assaulted on Thursday for allegedly stealing donkeys.

The deceased, Qhubekani Nyathi of Dongwe Village, succumbed to injuries after he was allegedly assaulted by Makhosi Dube and Philani Mnyaka at Tshiboyi Business Centre.

Police arrested Mnyaka, who is in custody facing murder charges, while Dube is on the run.

In a statement, police said: “ZRP Gwanda is investigating a murder case in which Qhubekani Nyathi (38) died on July 28, 2022 after he was attacked by the suspects, Philani Mnyaka (33) and Makhosi Dube, on July 22, 2022 near Tshiboyi Business Centre, Dongwe.

“The suspects had accused the victim of stealing their donkeys.”
