A 33-year-old man from Nkayi has been arrested for allegedly killing his friend following a misunderstanding over a gambling bet.
The suspect, Prosper Ncube, who has been on the run since he committed the offence in January was arrested following vigilant police investigations.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said the victim, Polite Hlabangani, was struck by a brick in the abdomen before he was rushed to Nkayi hospital where he died on admission.
“Police in Gwelutshena arrested Prosper Ncube (33) for a murder case in which he allegedly struck Polite Hlabangani on the abdomen with a brick after a misunderstanding during a gambling game at Gwelutshena shopping centre on January 27, 2023,” reads part of the statement.
