A 22-year-old man from Epworth is being investigated for murder after he allegedly forced his 2-year-old child to drink rat poison following a domestic dispute with his wife sometime in January this year.

According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police, Tinashe Nyamutambo of Garan’anga, Epworth, allegedly forced his child to drink a Maheu beverage laced with rat poison.

“Later on, Nyamutambo also drank the poisoned Maheu and was referred to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals together with his child for treatment,” said the police in a statement.

“Unfortunately, the child died on January 31 whilst on admission at the hospital. Nyamutambo escaped to an unknown destination.

“Police have since been on the hunt for him. They are appealing to the public to share information if they find any.”
