A SOMBRE atmosphere engulfed Tsonzo High School grounds in Mutasa Central, Manicaland Province where the late national hero Ambassador Advocate Johannnes Tomana’s memorial service was held today.

The service was marked by eulogies from chief mourner Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution Honourable Nokuthula Matsikenyere as well as the younger brother to the departed diplomat Reuben Tomana, Anglican and Johane Marange Apostolic church representatives before the body viewing ritual.

Speaker after speaker at the memorial service described the late national hero Ambasador Advocate Tomana as a humble and selfless man.

Ambassador Advocate Tomana was commended for his humility which saw him often providing legal services for free to the underprivileged.

Ambassador Advocate Tomana’s body was flown to St Mathias Tsonzo High School for a memorial service before being taken back in the afternoon to Harare ahead of his burial at the National Heroes Arce on Monday.

The late national hero’s wife Daphine Tomana and close relatives accompanied the body.

Ambassador Advocate Tomana, a devoted Christian who grew up in the Anglican Church after attaining education at the two schools run by the church – St Mathias Tsonzo High and St Augustines High – later joined the Johanne Marange Apostolic Church.
