MBIRE livestock producers and stakeholders in the value chain recently converged at Mushumbi Pools in Lower Guruve, where they discussed issues affecting the sector.
Dubbed the ‘Mbire Livestock Indaba’, the day-long workshop was organised by ActionAid, a non-governmental organisation that works hand-in-glove with rural communities in fighting poverty.
A goat farmer Mrs Elizabeth Saizi said she benefitted a lot from the interactions.
“Before the workshop, I had so many unanswered questions regarding livestock production. After the workshop, all the questions that are related to livestock production and marketing were addressed,” she said.
The workshop was held under the auspices of the Zimbabwe Resilience Building Fund (ZRBF) and the Zambezi Valley Alliance (ZVA) initiatives.
Apart from farmers, representatives from the Mbire Rural District Council, Government officials, and meat processing companies also took part in the deliberations.
