NEW: Man loses US$3k as money changer turns armed robber

POLICE in Harare are investigating a case of robbery, in which a 27-year-old man lost US$3 200 to a suspect who was posing as a foreign currency dealer.

In a statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said the complainant was lured into a Honda Fit vehicle, where he was threatened with a pistol.

“Police in Harare are investigating a robbery case, which occurred on August 19 at corner Samora Machel and 6th Street in which a man (27) lost US$3 200 cash to an unknown forex dealer whom he met on a WhatsApp group,” said ZRP.

“The complainant had travelled from Rusape, and was lured to get into a silver Honda Fit vehicle (registration number not captured) before the suspect produced an unidentified pistol and stole the money.”
