The previously closed roads from the intersection of Samora Machel Avenue and Julius Nyerere Way will re-open for use by motorists and the public from Monday, as works to install the Mbuya Nehanda monument and upgrading of the intersection have been completed.

In a statement on Thursday, the Harare City Council announced that Leopold Takawira Road will also revert to a one-way road between Samora Machel Ave and Kwame Nkrumah Avenue, after it had been temporarily converted into a two-way road.

“Motorists are encouraged to exercise extreme caution as they approach the above referred intersection as there will still be minor works and monitoring of the intersection by various road gangs,” reads part of the communique.

Council also urged motorists to take note of the height restrictions of 4,6 metres at the intersection of Samora Machel Ave and Julius Nyerere Way.

“Any detours and road signs should be respected and followed so as to ensure the safety of road users.”
