ZIMBABWE sprinter David Nyamufarira has become the third best Zimbabwe sprinter after running the 100m in a pulsating 10.02 seconds five days ago.
The New Mexico Junior College athlete’s time saw him fall behind Gabriel Mvumvure and national record holder Ngonidzashe Makusha, who all have run sub 10 second 100m dashes.
The effort left him 0.02 seconds off the World Championships set for Tokyo, Japan’s qualifying time.
Nyamufarira has proved that his indoor national record setting feat in the 60m two months ago was no fluke.
He clocked 6.57m for a 50th in the world time in a season that Tapiwanashe Makarawu and Makanakaishe Charamba finished the indoor season as the best indoor sprinters with a time of 20.13 seconds.
Nyamufarira’s time in the 100m is his college’s record.
