Minister of State for Midlands Provincial Affairs Owen Ncube recently commissioned Kana Hospital mortuary in Gokwe South, which was built at a cost of $70 000 and a bridge valued at $100 000.
Speaking after commissioning the mortuary, Minister Ncube said the construction of the mortuary was one of the Government’s 100 day plans and he was happy that they have managed to complete the project.
“We are happy because the Government has fulfilled one of its 100-day plans as pronounced by His Excellence Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa .We have officially commissioned this mortuary, which will cater for Matebeleland North and Midlands Province,” said Minister Ncube.
Minister Ncube said the new mortuary would help ease pressure on the hospital, which services all five constituencies in Gokwe South and Matebeleland North.
“Gokwe South has five constituency and also caters for Matebleland North. The old mortuary was too small hence there was congestion and as a result people were being forced to bury their relatives early because the old mortuary was no longer in good shape,” said Minister Ncube.

She said the old mortuary could only accommodate two bodies and it was now dilapidated however the new mortuary was electrified and refrigerated and now accommodates more than 10 bodies.
“The new mortuary will make work easier for the hospital as it has all the provision that a mortuary needs.
“It can accommodate more than 10 bodies compared to the old one, which was now dilapidated and had worn out trays and poor refrigeration,” said Katiyo.
Minister Ncube also commissioned Kana Mission Bridge, which was built at a total cost of $100 000 and would facilitate movement between Midlands and Matabeleland North provinces.
