THE Mr & Mrs Mufakose tournament makes its gallant return after a 14-year hiatus, when the bodybuilding and fitness competition takes place in the high-density suburb of Mufakose this weekend.
Four categories – namely the juniors, seniors, open men’s competition, and the bikini modeling category – are on the cards.
The event will be held at Rutendo Hall on Saturday.
Speaking on the eve of the event, the competition’s marketing and publicity officer, Masarira Silingwani, was overjoyed at the response the event has received from both athletes and corporates.
“We have managed to secure a few sponsorship deals with companies like LM Pharmacy, Quantum, First Transfer Secretaries and Fayseid Farming Solutions, to name but a few, who will be chipping in both cash and kind,” he said.
“We also have 23 models and 11 local bodybuilders who have confirmed their participation in the competition, making it a competition not to be missed.
“The preparations have gone on smoothly, as we paraded the trophies and shield at the venue this past week.
The return of the competition is part and parcel of efforts to revive both the sport and the Mufakose Community Gym.
Over 25 bodybuilders, across the three main categories, and 23 models expected to grace the event.
Final registration closes on Friday, with the event expected to kick off around midday on Saturday.
