NEW: Muridzo, Sasha perform as showbiz returns

Online Reporter

ANDY Muridzo will tonight share the stage with rising mbira player Sasha “Amadhuve” Lishomwa and the Dubai Expo 2020-bound Duramazwi Mbira Group.

The event comes at a time when local showbiz is slowly coming out of a Covid-19-induced comatose.

The show, which has been dubbed “The End of Year Bira,” will be held at the FnG Showgrounds, formerly known as Dandaro Inn.

Sarudzai Jaravaza, the leader of the Duramazwi mbira ensemble, is excited.

Duramazwi is billed to perform at the ongoing Dubai Expo 2020.

“This is our first time to share the stage with Andy and Sasha. We are definitely going to learn a lot from the two artistes in terms of stage presentations, just as much as they will also learn from us,” Jaravaza said.

The group is Friday’s show as dress rehearsals for the Dubai event.

“Tonight’s show is one of the most important shows of my career. We are going to perform as if we are on stage in Dubai. We cannot afford to disappoint.”

Muridzo is a seasoned performer and Sasha, who was among a number of entertainers that performed at the unveiling of the Mbuya Nehanda statue in May, is known for her energetic performances.
