New music brand introduced

The duo — who got together in 2009 — have released a debut CD titled “Lets Be True” that features 15 tracks.
The project is already receiving airplay on national radio stations and is set to adhere itself with those seeking a change from urban grooves and are looking for “positive” lyrics.
The affable Muzariri recently revealed that Cross-Over music is
a mixture of dancehall and rap genres.
He added that their next project will incorporate traditional instruments.
“We write our own lyrics and the theme is always positive, as indicated on the sleeve of our CD.
“It’s our belief that people should live positively and be true to themselves,” said Muzariri.
The sleeve has got a Parental Advisory tag that the contents of the album are positive (not explicit).
Muzariri said they sing in English, Shona and Ndebele in order to cater for a wider audience.
The project featured a number of guest artistes including Badman who recorded the track “Life is Good” at Top Mafia Records.
Other guests include soulful sister Eugain, MoFire, Sean Dee and Lincoln, whose contribution is very distinct on the track Fire Gong.
Irah Manjengwa a.k.a Ziggy Zee of Black Material Records produced the album, while he also features on several tracks.
Muzariri said they expected their music to appeal across the age divide, with tracks like “Mama and Papa” appealing to the elderly while party goers are set to fall in love with “Good Size”.
He revealed that his poetry background inspired the last track on the album “Ode to Life”.
“I used to do stand-up poetry at The Book Café and The Mannenberg. I have also written a poetry anthology titled ‘Joshua Meets Angela’, derived from my parents’ first names,” said Muzariri.
The book contains 103 poems and has been approved for printing in the United States of America by Dorrance Publishing House under their subsidy programme.
However, funding for the project remains a challenge, as the publishing house requires a substantial deposit before printing and marketing the book worldwide.
Turning to promotion of their album, Muzariri said they would be holding live shows starting next month, while working on videos to several tracks.
“We’re already working on our second album and our fans can expect a couple of love-theme singles,” said Muzariri.
He could not rule out incorporation of sungura artistes in future projects, pointing out that only the sky was the limit in music creativity.
Muzariri is also an entrepreneur specialising in advertising and corporate branding. He is into event management, emceeing and also works as a part-time club disc jockey.
