PREMIERSHIP hopefuls Mutare City Rovers kept their foot on the pedal in the race for promotion after overcoming visiting Renco Mine 1-0 at Sakubva Stadium in the Zifa Eastern Region Division One league’s fixtures last weekend.

The early pacesetters maintained their one-point lead over second-placed GreenFuel, who are also chasing the sole ticket into the elite league, with 30 points from 12 games.

Former Premiership outfit Buffaloes survived an early first half scare from FC Wangu Mazodze to emerge 2-1 victorious.

Buoyed by their maiden win in the previous match before the Easter break, Manica Diamonds Juniors picked another precious point in a 0-0 draw away to Ruwa ProGroup to blow some wind in their sail to avoid relegation.

Struggling Buhera-based Nzuma Bar were inactive again after failing to fulfil their fixture against GreenFuel.
